“Johnny and Jane got their Guns – and Never Came Home”
9/11 unleashed the dogs of war, and the impulse for endless war in the guise of the Global War on Terror. Not only has this war cost us -- more than a trillion and counting – but it has expanded the federal government and given the Executive Office more power than ever. It has cost the lives of more than 5,725 American service members, and left tens of thousands sick, injured, suicidal and lost. A generation of Americans is feeding the war machine and yet our leaders cannot truly tell us why.
Daniel Lakemacher, a U.S Navy veteran who became a conscientious objector after working at the military prison in Guantanamo Bay, will share his insights.
Kelley Vlahos, freelance wirer and contributor to Antiwar.com, will talk about the media and politics driving perpetual war.
Allison Gibbs, president of the Ladies of Liberty Alliance (LOLA), will discuss howstudent activists can make a difference.
