Obama Presence Protest in Savannah, GA MArch 2, 2010

Tuesday, March 2, 2010

Time: 11:30am - 3:00pm
Location: Intersection of White Bluff and Abercorn Description

We will meet at the intersection of White Bluff and Abercorn. The Oglethorpe Mall at that intersection offers large amounts of free parking and allows us a central meeting point if we want to move our protest! President Obama will arrive in Savannah March 2nd.

He no doubt, will be rallying support for his new jobs bill and the nuclear plant being built here in Georgia. Let's show the Prez and our local representation how we feel about this administration and the choices they make. Make a sign and bring a friend!

this is the facebook group event. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=497561045203 We will have people stationed at both gates to give us a heads up. I will be on White Bluff at the entrance to Sav. Tech. They will call me when they see the direction things are going and we will pass the word. We suggest that you position yourself on Hampstead, White Bluff to Johnson or at the Stephenson Gate on the median of White Bluff. My guess is that he will be at Sav. Tech about an hour. We do not know where is going after that. We do know he will be going to Georgia Ports sometime. He is leaving Savannah around 4:00

Why Real Conservatives Are Against the War on Terrorism

LOLA created a panel for CPAC called- Why Real Conservatives Are Against the War on Terrorism. This instruction gave clear and concise understandings as to why anyone that believes in Liberty should be against the war on terror and any aggression against others

Is America’s current “War on Terror” essential to keeping our nation safe? Or is it yet another vehicle for the federal government to increase its power over our lives and take away our liberties? Is the “War on Terror” actually weakening our national defense and increasing opposition overseas?

The panel, Created by LOLA and co-sponsored by The Future of Freedom Foundation, Ladies of Liberty Alliance and Campaign for Liberty, included:

# Karen Kwiatkowski — retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Colonel

# Jacob Hornberger — founder and president of The Future of Freedom Foundation

# Philip M. Giraldi — former CIA counter-terrorism specialist and military intelligence officer, current Francis Walsingham Fellow at The American Conservative Defense Alliance

# Bruce Fein — former associate deputy attorney general in the Reagan administration

Know Your Rights

By Allison Gibbs

Sometimes we blindly accept what agents of the state (police officers, congressman, anyone paid by the government) tell us is lawful.
We as women have learned a few different scenarios of getting out of tickets or run ins with these individuals. Let's learn what is lawful and what isn't so we don't have to succumb to relying on flirtation, stupidity, ignorance, or the bat of an eye. Lets educate ourselves and know our rights!

Thank you to Flex Your Rights for this!

Libertarian Men: Libertarian Women

I asked a question via internet discussion in hopes to gather some sort of estimation of the male to female ratio within the Liberty Movement.  My first instinct was to say about 25:1 however there are different types of events to keep in mind.  A protest or activism event has proven to bring more women out into the open.  However, educational events or conferences seem to be lacking in numbers for team ladies.

Please refer to this discussion to see some responses I received.  After reading through some thoughts and estimations I believe the average for protest/activism events was around 10-5:1 and educational/conference events was 15/20:1

The purpose of this data is apparent.  We need more women!  As well stated in our LOLA video, more women will bring credibility, popularity, and added skills men lack to this movement.

LOLA would not only like to see more women getting involved but also more women leading.  There is a whole other ratio to estimate when talking about male speakers and leaders at events to women speakers and leaders.  Perhaps we can save that for a informal discussion at a happy hour.

Where Should We Be Investing?

Whether you are a recent graduate, like myself, or someone sleeping on a mattress uncomfortably for all you have stuffed underneath, many people are wondering where to invest.

I am no professional however there are several articles and websites we can be looking to for advice.  Peter Schiff's EuroPacific website explains the steps to take to invest your money in a sound commodity.  Also, Doug Casey, chairman of Casey Research has written a great article on some if his suggestions. (Thanks LewRockwell.com) Also, start picking up literature that can educate you more on the current financial "crisis": Meltdown by Tom Woods, End the Fed by Dr. Ron Paul.

Smart investing does not have to begin once you have a "big girl job", a message to the young people, begin now so you will not be working hours for free as the value of your stacks of paper decrease.  Do your research and begin investing in what has been consistently holding its value as well as increasing in value.

What Aspects of Your Life Do You Control?

I have been traveling around the New England area helping students voice their concerns and opinions about their campus and country they reside in.  My favorite question to ask when a student approaches me on campus is:  What Aspect of Your Life is the Government Not Involved with?  What comes next is the reason why I love working with college students...

I do not ask this question in a manner that would seem as if I know the answer, because in reality I do not.  I have been surprised at what some of the students have come up with as answers.  However, each answer always leads the student and I to some form of government agency or law that restricts us from having compelte control over it.

Here are some popular answers that are immediately debunked, although the reasons I have listed are one of many that represent government's control over our lives, (keep in mind this is just the tip of the ice berg):

Driving: NOPE, the Department of Transportation has regulated to death everything from the cars we can drive to how we HAVE to drive them.  The way we are threatened with tickets of astronomical amounts and one might even say gun point because police are armed and ready to stop us from violating the road laws.

Eating: NICE TRY, the Food and Drug Administration have taken over almost every aspect of food from farming to the way it's packaged in a store.

Walking: NADA, a student and I were talking about how you can be cited for not using a crosswalk.  Both knowing that when you think it is a clear time to cross the street, who cares if it's a desginated area.

Breathing: WRONG AGAIN, the government believes that it is its duty to pass legislation like "Clean Air Act" and "Cap and Trade" which in effect taxes us to control the air we breath.  One may say this is not a bad thing, however it is not good or bad we are talking about, yet who is in control.

Love: YEA RIGHT, the government, as anyone who isn't living under a rock knows, has been trying to define marraige and how we should be partnered in society.

The one answer we did find that could stand up against the rest was Spirituality.  Although, many would disagree because the government and church have been working together for many years.  Many people do not describe their spirituality with their church or religious establishment, they describe it within.

Spirituality is also the reason why the government will never truly control us.  The spirit this movement has, as well as people in the country unaware of the control over them, gives  the power to hold on and fight for the life we want for ourselves and generations to come.

I am a recent college graduate, but the spirit I see in this movement, especially with people my age and students on campuses, we will succeed.
